Marmomacc also assigned another highly-prized recognition: the “Master of Stone 2011” resumes a tradition going back to the Corporation of Stone Art in Verona in the 1300s.

In 1980, a group of entrepreneurs in the Valpolicella area re-founded the Corporation and every year during Marmomacc proclaimed a “Master of Stone” chosen from people whose activity ensured fame and high-standing through their efforts on behalf of the entire sector and in defence of the economy of the local area. This year, the honour went to Ahmet Serter, “for his impressive managerial skills in leading one of the most important business realities in the Turkish stone industry - Basaranlar Marble, renowned all over the world and involved in very important projects in all five continents”.
